Tax returns and planning from one connected team.

Tax Preparation and Tax Planning for Businesses and Their Owners

BBK Tax, our tax practice, prepares business and personal tax returns and helps owners plan ahead all year. Because your bookkeeping and your taxes are handled by one connected team, there's no year-end scramble to hand records to an outside preparer, and no gap between the people who keep your books and the people who file your returns.

How BBK Tax helps

  • Catch up: overdue business and personal returns filed, with the books rebuilt first

  • Stay current: annual federal and state returns for individuals, businesses, nonprofits, and trusts, with extensions included

The co-founders of BBK Accounting

BBK Tax is part of BBK Accounting, led by CEO Alex Mic-Podar and COO Julie DeLong.

Why we added tax

For nearly two decades, BBK has built its reputation on service: responsive people, open lines of communication, and high standards, month after month. Our clients have come to expect it.

And we kept hearing the same frustration about tax preparers, from clients and from nearly every business owner we talk to. They can't get their preparer on the phone. Questions go unanswered for weeks. They'd value just a little proactive advice during the year, someone to point them in the right direction before a decision, and instead they only hear from their preparer once a year, if then.

So we built BBK Tax around the standard of service we've spent years developing:

  • Real communication.

Your tax team answers your questions and keeps you informed, not just in April.

  • Proactive, not reactive.

We reach out, check in, and plan with you during the year.

  • One shared set of numbers.

Your tax team works alongside your bookkeeping and payroll team from the same data, so everyone is aligned.

  • The same high standards

    BBK clients already count on.

Why one connected team matters

Most business owners have a bookkeeper and a separate tax preparer who rarely talk to each other. Records get handed off late, questions bounce back and forth, and tax planning happens after the year is over, when it's too late to change much.

With BBK, your tax team works from the same books your bookkeeper keeps all year. That means:

  • Fewer surprises. Your tax team sees how the year is going, not just how it ended.
  • Less back-and-forth. The information your return needs is already organized.
  • Planning that happens in time to matter, before year-end decisions are locked in.

Already have a CPA you trust? We'll deliver clean, tax-ready financials to them instead.

Catch up: get overdue returns filed

Overdue returns usually start with overdue books. Our bookkeepers get each missing year in order, oldest first, and BBK Tax prepares and files the returns. One team handles both, so nothing gets lost between them. If you're several years behind, we'll map out the order of work and give you a clear quote before we start. The first year is full price, and each additional year is 15% off.

Stay current: annual tax preparation

BBK Tax prepares federal and state returns for:

  • Individuals (Form 1040), including self-employment, rental property, and farm income
  • S-corporations (Form 1120-S)
  • Partnerships and multi-member LLCs (Form 1065)
  • C-corporations (Form 1120)
  • Nonprofits
  • Trusts

Extensions are filed as a normal part of our service whenever they're needed, so a late document never means a late filing. You send documents through a secure tax portal, which keeps your personal and financial information protected.

Our tax team works with the same industries our bookkeepers know well, including real estate investors and rental owners, law firms and other professional practices, construction and trades, e-commerce sellers, hospitality businesses, and nonprofits. Because your returns are built from books kept by people who know your industry, the deductions and details specific to your business don't get missed.

See clearly: year-round tax planning and advisory

The best time to lower your tax bill is before the year ends. Our advisory plans give you a tax team you can call on all year:

  • Estimated-tax guidance, so quarterly payments aren't a guess
  • Mid-year and year-end planning
  • Tax projections before major decisions
  • Entity, payroll, and owner-compensation strategy
  • Planning for major purchases and retirement

Choose a one-time consultation for a specific question, or an ongoing plan sized to your business.

Do you file extensions?

Yes. Extensions are a normal part of our service.

Can you file several years of overdue returns?

Do I have to use BBK for bookkeeping to use BBK Tax?
